To what do I owe that big, cheesing’ grin?

Well, I had just been awarded the Small Business Person of the Year award by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and what a whirlwind that was!

As you might know, I'm involved with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, particularly through the Women's Council where I'm on the Board and Chair of the Community Outreach Committee.  We've been busy putting on a variety of events benefiting local non-profits and I couldn't be happier with how its developed over the last two years.

I'm also on the Boards of two non-profits, Bowtie Kids, an organization that provides courage and confidence to children living with chronic pain, and Elite Foundation. where we empower, educate and elevate survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

I also lend my support and services to various other non-profits in South Florida and I love to feature them on my website. Check out my Giving Back page.

I had just come off the high of coordinating and launching the Women’s Council inaugural Excuse Me, That’s My Seat Conference when this award came. I was awestruck. I was nominated for the Small Business of the Year award in the Retail Services category, but I never imagined I would win instead as the Small Business Person!

This is my shocked and about-to-cry face!

i was thrilled to be surrounded by so many awesome friends and colleagues. Lots of cheering and even a standing ovation. I was SO surprised that I didn’t even address the audience. LOL

I ran up onto the stage, got my award and sat back down again.

All the winners!

And then came the selfies!

The first order of business was representing the Greater FL Chamber at the 2018 Small Business Person of the Year Annual Awards Luncheon put on by the Broward County Council of Chambers. Another awesome event and such a privilege!

I must say that the months following the award have been a whirlwind!

The most exciting thing has been this video produced by Elizabeth Priore of DigiVision Productions for the Chamber. So cool!

I am beyond grateful for all the supportive community the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce has provided. Not only have I have made lifetime friendships, but I am so lucky to have been able to impact others in our community as well.
